The content creator who commands two and half million followers on TikTok and over a quarter of a million followers on Instagram juggles a career as a content creator and founder of a hair care brand, Afrocurl.
Having started off her career as a fashion buyer after completing her studies in Fashion Design, Kayla launched Afrocurl during the covid19 pandemic. She then turned to social media for content creation to boost her brand’s visibility, now she’s one of the most influential and fast growing content creators out right now. Not only has she created a career by monetising her content, she’s simultaneously growing a global brand.
Whilst most creators and influencers are comfortable doing what they do best, the unpredictable future of the industry demands they look beyond influencing and consider creating their own brands to achieve longevity.
When it comes to building a brand, Kayla doesn’t believe in market saturation. She believes there’s room for any creator who wants to build something sustainable. Her message is, “start with what you have.”
On her vision with Afrocurl, Kayla says, “I wanted to create a range that is not only organic and vegan but one that is affordable and accessible to curly girls. Afrocurl is environmentally friendly, vegan, cruelty free as well as paraben free.”
Kayla is currently living it up in London where she attended her first big red carpet event at the premier of the #wickedmovie courtesy of TikTok.
