How Lufefe ‘The F1 Vlogger’ Mayekiso Created His Own Niche by Merging His Two Passions: Motorsport and Lifestyle. Mayekiso popularly known as the F1 Vlogger has made a name for himself as the voice of motorsport in SA and founder of Motor Zar TV, the leading Formula 1 fan channel in Africa.
Recently, the f1 vlogger went viral a couple of times for a different type of content, lifestyle and events. For Lufefe, merging motorsport content and lifestyle and events content has proven to be seamless as they complement each other well. He attributes this to the innovative nature of his platform which allows the content to be more flexible. “There is no manual, meaning there is a lot of trial and error.”
On being part of the shift in covering motorsport events as a creator-led platform, Lufefe says, “The world is changing very quickly, and we need to adapt. Behind The Scenes content is fast becoming more popular than the actual event especially for the new fans, this is not exclusive to F1. It’s slow to burn but when it does it’s sustainable and a glimpse into the future, today.”
The f1 vlogger has found his winning formula to social media success. Understanding that social media behavior is no different to real life and that people see things differently. “Most of my lifestyle audience are not in touch with the world of F1. My F1 audience enjoy the lifestyle content because F1 is an aspirational sport. Very elite.
Then there are those who are interested but don’t understand it. I am here for that.”
Having learnt how to edit reels in 2024, which was inspired by the need to produce real-time F1 content during peak times, a new business venture was born. Reel Genuis, a service business where Lufefe brings his Reel making magic to weddings and corporate events.
“So, every event I went to I would capture content then produce a Reel in quick turnaround times. People enjoy my reels so much they share them which is what has propelled my lifestyle content in the last two months. And of cause the subject of the matter, The Royal Rebel nuptial. Reel Genius has commitment to another project so now we are here. Creating memorable moments at events for a small fee.”
Blending niche sport content with aspirational lifestyle content is the F1 Vlogger’s way of creating a pathway to where his audience eventually wants to end up.
“The F1 Lifestyle doesn’t end on the track. Off the track is showbiz, fast cars, fashion, travel, fine-dining and affluent social circles. That’s really what its about, the opulent life. The biggest brands pay enormous amounts of money to associate with F1. My lifestyle content is the pathway to the destination and that’s where we want to be.” – The f1 vlogger.
