Illustrator and muralist, Karabo Poppy continues to break barriers and make history. This time as the first ever African woman selected for the VISA global art collection for the brand’s ‘Making It’ campaign.
The first of its kind artist collaboration celebrates the unifying spirit of football and uplifts artists like Karabo to the centre stage. Karabo shared how the milestone is bigger than an opportunity but about making it and the process that got her there.
“The belief that my perspective matters. It means our stories, our style, our perspective from Africa belongs on the biggest stage. The work I’m creating captures the energy of football, not just what happens on the pitch but around it. Turning an idea into something the world can feel.”
The project is enabled by VISA, the brand is backing creators by giving them a global platform. “When you support creators, you’re not just funding art, you’re opening doors to opportunity, growth and real livelihoods,” the award winning artist said on the partnership.
Karabo added how she has always believed that art tells a story. And being part of the Visa Global Art Collection is another transaction in her #MakingIt journey, one that she’s excited about and proud of.
